Source Communications is ready to design and create anything you can imagine.
We began as a low-voltage cable provider and have grown to become a go to Source of low-voltage network infrastructure, security systems, card access design and installation, intrusion alarm installation and monitoring. For the last two decades, we expanded to offer custom metal and plastics design and manufacturing seen throughout the US and around the world.
It Started With “Yes”
Source Communications began in 1987 when the customer of a former employer asked Jeff Ditges if he could help them buy some bulk cabling. Jeff said yes, he could. He didn’t have a job or business, but when she handed him a purchase order to fill out, he had his first client. But staring at the paperwork, he didn’t have a clue what to write for the name of the company and told her as much. The customer responded, “Anything I have ever needed, you were always the best source.” Jeff wrote, “Source Communications” on the top line of the PO and a new company was born.
As startups go, there’s usually a scramble to obtain working capital. Not so for Source. Jeff was visiting his doctor one day in 1988 and mentioned the business he had just started. Unprompted, the doctor asked if he could invest in the enterprise. Jeff’s reputation as being honest, reliable, and hardworking was the only business prospectus the doctor, and later, other investors needed. That’s pretty much how the business has evolved. Customers trust Jeff to solve their challenges and the employees at Source Communications deliver on those promises.
Part inventor, part engineer, part entrepreneur, Jeff has been saying yes for nearly three decades now, and the business has grown steadily to include cabling, security, audio, and card reader stands.
A Family Affair
Over the years, his family members joined the company. When his wife, Laura, a former Broomfield City Attorney and corporate lawyer realized that Jeff was never going to stop saying yes, she came on board to manage the finances, assets, accounting and people. His daughter, Kristen was brought in to handle HR and advertising. Their son, Andrew joined the company after college as a field technician and has since excelled into a senior project manager.
Ask any of the Ditges family, “What does Source Communications do?” and there’s usually a pause as they take a big breath to explain. That’s because Source Communications is still growing, changing, and adapting to the needs of its customers every day as they continue to say, “Yes.”
